I’ve been out of town the last week and haven’t been on the water in what seems like too long. We changed that on Friday as it was just my boy and I celebrating the first day of summer vacation. Sunday’s fishing charter reserved just the day before went great, considering how stirred up the water was from the big front and storm on Friday. Several areas that held good fish and bait prior to the storm were vacant still on Sunday. Nonetheless we caught a bunch of nice sheepshead with a half dozen or so keepers and a nice big fat redfish to make my first time clients extremely pleased about their charter fishing trip on Estero Bay.

Nice getting back on the water again after a bit of a lull. This Wednesday morning charter was with some avid fresh water fishermen who don’t get to fish the salt very much. They picked right up on the techniques we were using after we left the dock at Lover’s Key right on time.

I hadn’t been on the water in South West Florida the last week or so, and with a few charters coming up, and family in town, my son and dad were able to escape for a few hours to Estero Bay. My boy was dying to try his new fly rod he got for Christmas, but the strong winds kept us from being able to break it out. Had a great charter on Tuesday with first time customer Jeff, in town for vacation. It was just the 2 of us as we left the dock at Lover’s Key just about the time the sun was peaking over the horizon. We started the day heading out of New Pass looking for the snook that have been pounding the bait along one of the shorelines. Fished a couple days over the last week with family and friends in Estero Bay. While we saw some huge snook, all we could get to bite were some smaller versions.



A nice trout bite has helped get fish to the boat and smiles on the anglers though.





We have also had amazing dolphin experiences every time out over the last couple of weeks!

With the kids out of school, after a great year, I was able to escape to the water, with just my son and nephew to Estero Bay for the day. It was also my Nephew’s birthday, so the days’ itinerary was all up to the kids. We started, per request, looking for some spotted sea trout by drifting shallow grass flats with live shrimp under popping corks. Finally getting to sit down and put together the latest fishing report after a crazy week. It was the third day in a row of inshore fishing for my son and I, during his spring break. Joining us on the Wednesday morning adventure were another cousin/nephew and a buddy of mine and his young son. As we worked our way out of Weeks Fish Camp loaded with shrimp, and an exuberant crew, a gorgeous heron saw us off.

I have been dying to get on the water for the last week or so, but the high winds we’ve been having, have kept me landlocked. The incremental decrease in the forecasted winds for today, was enough for me to call my old high school bud Andy for another venture to Estero Bay. Had the chance to fish today, with 2 old friends from my high school days, out of Estero Bay in Fort Myers Florida. The 3 of us left Weeks fish camp about 9 am or so with several dozen shrimp and high expectations.
